FREQUENTLY
ASKED QUESTIONS
How
do we get started?
Unless under 10 years of age, each prospective client must
schedule a comprehensive musculoskeletal evaluation by one
of our on-site physical therapists. At this point, a personalized
program will be developed and a schedule set in place.
How
many days a week is the program?
Our clients choose their level of commitment on an individual
basis. We strongly encourage a 2X a week program.
How
long does the program last?
We implement a methodology based on periodization. This means
that we will look at your starting date versus the start of
your season and develop the program as such to have you at
peak performance at that point. For example, in the weeks
prior to your season the program will gradually depart from
the power phase and morph into a more dynamic, explosive based
program designed to mimic the faster movements associated
with your position and sport. Once off-season training is
completed, and the season starts, many clients continue to
train once a week, in an in-season strength and power program
How
long is a session?
The training sessions initially last one hour. After a few
sessions, the client will be asked to come in 10 minutes prior
to appointment to complete their Active Dynamic Warmup and
be ready to start with the trainer at the start of their session.
As the client's workouts progress over time, the sessions
may evolve to longer periods. However, the rates remain the
same!
What
age is safe to begin training?
The perception that strength development is unsafe for young
athletes is inconsistent with current knowledge. Generally,
if a child is capable of participating in an organized youth
sport, he/she is capable of participating in a training program.
Recent research has demonstrated that proper strength training
is 6 times more effective in musculoskeletal development of
pre-adolescents. In addition, beginner athletes will benefit
greatly because the 7-10 age parameter are the most crucial
years for motor skill development.
What
is Small Group Training?
All small groups consist of 2-6 persons. Any individual client
can enroll, as we will group you accordingly. Although in
a group, differentiated programs are implemented for each
client, to meet their own objectives and needs.
Is
this for advanced athletes only?
Our client list currently includes 7 year olds seeking increased
coordination, balance, and fitness to professional athletes
attempting to secure their future. We are about maximizing
each person's potential regardless of skill level or physicals
stature. Self-esteem and confidence is gained through our
work and obviously transcends to other aspects of lie.
Who
will train my son/daughter/me?
Our staff consists of professionals with varied educational
and athletic backgrounds. This allows us to place each client
with the performance trainer best suited for their specific
needs or learning style. All of our trainers carry the highest
certification in the industry...Certified Strength &
Conditioning Specialist by the National strength
& Conditioning Association.
Do
you train entire teams?
Yes. Obviously training entire teams does not offer the individualized
attention attained in our small group programs. However, it
is a great entry level introduction to functional training,
as well as being very cost effective.
Should
I train while in-season?
The bulk of our clients follow up their off-season program
with a once a week in-season maintenance program. Depending
on the athlete, gains may still be achieved during this period.
